1- Image field is dark. What should be checked?
a. Make sure you set the IRIS function in automatic mode.
b. In case of Xenon lamps check whether life has ended? (Replacement lamp by trained experts of the company)
c. Check that there is no fracture and sediment on the distal end light guide lenses. (In case that lenses are broken, send to company for repair)
d. Make sure that the processor light control function is set to automatic mode.


2- The picture is very bright and reflective light. What should be checked?
a. Check the light control cable (that create a connection between light-source and image-processor), whether is connected properly or not.
b. Make sure that the processor light control function is set to automatic mode.
c. Make sure that the brightness setting of monitor is set properly.


3- No Air/Water feeding
a. Make sure the pump is turned on.
i. To check that, disconnect the water container from scope and check that air is come out from connector pin of water container on the scope.
ii. Ensure scope connection to the light source and water container to scope.
b. Ensure that the sealing door of water container is closed properly. In case that the door hasn’t been fastened well, there were no air/water feed.
i. The simplest way of checking this is pulling out the Air/Water valve. In case that all connections are well, the water must be jet out of Air/Water cylinder on scope.
c. Try to open the nozzle, using the flushing adapter or Air/Water adapter. These switches duplicate the pressure and clean the nozzle.
d. Do not use any metallic objects (such as needles) in order to clean the nozzle.
e. Contact Olympus, or sent the scope to company for repair.


4- What is the cause of darkness of the image in laparoscopic procedures?

a. Check the life of Xenon lamp, if finished contact Olympus to change lamp.
b. The dust on the lenses in the light source causes loss in the light intensity. In order to service these lenses contact Olympus.
c. Check the light guided cable. A weak light guided cable may cause the image darkness. In case your light guide is poor, change it with a new one.


5- During endoscopic procedures when the tip of the endoscope goes near the tissue there is no visible image on the monitor and a big yellow or white blob appears. What is the cause?

a. You have lost your endoscope automatic light control system.
i. Check the light control setting on the light source and make sure it is set to the automatic mode.
ii. There is a back to back cable between image processor and the light source. Make sure that cable is connected correctly.
b. It is possible that one of your staff connected the image cable to the output of the monitor (instead of monitor input) by mistake.


6- There is no image on the monitor.
a. Make sure that the monitor line that is selected form the front panel is compatible with image cable.
b. In case of using RGB cable check that the External sync. Of the monitor is selected.
c. Change the image cable.
d. Set the image on the color bar using keyboard of the processor. If the color bar is shown on the monitor, check the EVIS cable and its connection to the endoscope; send the endoscope to the company for inspection.


7- The image freeze automatically.
a. The endoscope switches are short circuit due to the penetration of liquid; Send the endoscope to the company for repair.


8- Surgical or Endo-Therapy instruments are broken.

a. There is no standard solution for surgical or Endo-Therapy instruments repair. Generally the instrument must be replaced with the new one.


9- Rigid telescope is blurred.
a. Send the instrument to the company for repair exchange program.


10- Abnormal colors in the image field.
a. Check the white balance or white balance again using standard white balance cap or surgical gauze.
b. Check the color and light exposure setting on the image processor and light source.
c. In case that the color distortion is associated with failure to store information in memory, send the processor to the company for repair.
